The Creative Process

We follow a structured five-phase creative process that ensures each project evolves from concept to final execution in a way that is both strategic and highly engaging. Our approach is designed to elevate your designed assets while staying true to your brand’s identity. By using this process in its entirety, we can craft assets that not only reflect your current vision but also push the boundaries of creativity to deliver superior outcomes.

1. Research, Competitor Analysis, and Brand Clarification
We begin with a thorough research phase, analysing both your industry and competitors to identify benchmarks for excellence. This provides us with valuable insight into how we can make your reports stand out and engage your audience on a deeper level.

Simultaneously, we revisit your brand identity with a fresh perspective, ensuring it continues to align with your organisation’s core values and objectives. We will provide a tailored brand evaluation form to guide you through this reflection process. The findings from our research will be compiled into a detailed report, which we will use to agree on a creative direction moving forward.
2. Incubation

During this stage, we step back and allow the research to ‘incubate’. This seemingly passive process is crucial as it enables the creative team to digest all the gathered insights. Often referred to as the “mind-wandering” phase, this period allows the brain to process information unconsciously, fostering original and innovative ideas that may not arise through direct focus alone. This phase is essential for allowing creative ideas to emerge organically.

3. Illumination and Concept Development
Following the incubation phase, we move to the illumination stage – the point where key ideas and concepts start to form. This is when the pieces come together, and we present three initial creative concepts. These will each be uniquely inspired by the research and aligned with your brand guidelines, offering three distinct interpretations of the annual report’s visual identity and structure.

Once the concepts are presented, we work with you to refine and distil these into one cohesive final direction. Our approach ensures that the creative process remains collaborative and transparent, allowing for adjustments as necessary to meet your objectives.
4. Content Asset Assembly and Sourcing
Once a final concept is agreed upon, we begin sourcing and creating the necessary content assets to bring the design to life. Depending on the project’s needs, this may include photography, videography, illustrations, infographics, and animations, all aimed at enhancing the user experience and engagement with the report.

We ensure that these assets are consistent with your brand’s identity, while adding modern, visually engaging elements that make the report more interactive and appealing to a broad audience.
5. Evaluation and Refinement
Evaluation is an ongoing process throughout every phase. At each stage, we return to your brand’s core strategy and values to ensure that the creative solutions align with the established vision and objectives.
